Party season is just around the corner, but evening festivities don’t have to mean excessively sugary drinks and weekday hangovers.
Redemption Bar founders, Andrea Waters and Catherine Salway are passionate about creating a scenario where socialising doesn’t have to be at the expense of your health but can still be glamorous and fun.
Below is one of their delicious alcohol-free cocktail recipes from their new book, The Flu Fighters Martini makes the perfect dinner party accompaniment or cocktail night showpiece and won’t cause a single headache!
PREP: 10 minutes
80ml coconut water
50ml freshly squeezed orange juice
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
4 teaspoons Rhubarb Cordial
4 teaspoons pure aloe vera juice
1cm piece fresh ginger, peeled
1cm slice red chilli
a couple of ice cubes
slices of ginger and a chilli, to garnish
Put all the ingredients, except the ice cubes, in a blender and blitz well.
If you wish, you can pass the blended liquid through a fine-mesh sieve for an elegantly smooth drink. It is equally delicious and slightly spicier not passed, with the chilli flecks remaining, so it’s entirely up to you whether you follow this step or not.
Put the ice cubes in a cocktail shaker and pour over the elixir. Shake well to chill and pour into a large chilled martini glass.
Garnish with a slice of fresh ginger and a chilli.

– Ginger root has long been used in traditional alternative medicine. It is a great aid to digestion, reduces nausea and helps the body to fight off the flu virus and common colds.
– Aloe vera juice is packed with vitamins, including B, C and E, as well as folic acid, all of which fortify the body’s immune system.
